The Best ‘Groundhog Day’-Style Movies & Shows to Watch
It’s February 2, which means it is, once again, Groundhog Day! On Sunday morning, Punxsutawney Phil was yanked out of his cozy hiding spot in Gobblers Knob, Pennsylvania, and made to either see his shadow (indicating his prediction of six more weeks of winter) or not (thus foretelling an early spring arrival).
This year, Phil did indeed see his shadow, which means there’ll be even more snowfall ahead if the rascally rodent is right.
Watching the furry friend make his annual debut isn’t the only way to celebrate this unusual holiday, though. In 1993, the film industry gave new meaning to the day when Groundhog Day was released and forever connected the concept of a time loop to this day. Since then, there have been tons of great follow-ups in that tradition, so if you’re looking to celebrate Groundhog’s Day the Bill Murray way, well, as the film’s most oft-played song puts it, “I’ve got you babe.”
Here are some of the best Groundhog Day-style films and shows out there.
