Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Bernard Jones quickly grew attached to acting and theater. Whether it was roles at his performing arts high school or singing at church, he discovered quickly what he enjoyed and wanted to do with his life. He attended Morehouse College, studying theater, and during his time there, he went on an international tour as a background singer for Lyfe Jennings. Returning and finishing college, he set out to act. His first credited screen acting role was in Tyler Perry's "Meet the Browns" (TBS 2009-2012) where he appeared as Milo. The recurring character wound up showing up in seven episodes from 2009 to 2010. That character also appeared later on a few episodes of Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" (TBS 2006-2012).
Jones' other roles around this time were largely in the background, appearing in one-off roles on a few other television shows and movies. In 2014, he started doing sketches with CollegeHumor, appearing as Kanye West and a number of other characters over the course of a year. After that, he received acclaim as Braden in the Refinery29 webseries "Sh*tty Boyfriends" (2015). After trying to get a few other projects off the ground unsuccessfully, Jones wound up getting cast in the sitcom "The Mayor" (ABC 2017- ) in the regular role of Jermaine Leforge.
