Crystal Reed had a knack for taking on vulnerable characters and delivering memorable onscreen performances. After years of training in local community theater and stage productions, Reed headed to Hollywood, where she quickly landed guest appearances on several critically acclaimed television shows such as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" (CBS, 2000-15).
In 2010, the hardworking actress delighted science fiction buffs and fan boys with a featured role in "Skyline" (2010), an independent action thriller about an alien invasion in Los Angeles. The actress further padded her résumé by starring on "Teen Wolf" (MTV, 2011- ), the small screen adaptation of the classic 1985 film with Michael J. Fox, a relatable and multi-layered role that set Reed up for a promising career both on television and in feature films.
Michigan-born Crystal Reed studied dance at early age and began acting in community theater productions while growing up in Roseville, a suburb of metro Detroit. She returned to her birthplace to attend Wayne State University and pursued a bachelor of fine arts degree. Following college, the aspiring actress moved to Chicago, IL and appeared in local productions before finally making her way out West to pursue acting full time.
Soon after Reed moved to Hollywood, she landed guest spots on television. She made her onscreen debut in 2010 on the long-running mystery drama series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Reed also appeared on the "CSI" spin-off "CSI: NY" (CBS, 2004-13) opposite Gary Sinise and Melina Kanakaredes. The young actress first made an impression with a younger audience with a guest-starring appearance on "The Hard Times of RJ Berger" (MTV, 2010-11), a teen-oriented comedy series that followed the titular character (Paul Iacono), a geeky high school sophomore.
Reed made a leap to the big screen in 2010 with "Skyline." The film followed a group of twenty-somethings living in Los Angeles during an alien invasion. "Skyline" garnered minor buzz amongst fans of science fiction films, yet failed to impress critics, some of whom described it as a run-of-the-mill thriller about aliens invading Earth. Reed's second film project, the romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (2011), was comparatively bigger and better, and featured an all-star cast that included Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Julianne Moore. That same year, Reed returned to television with a starring role on the MTV series "Teen Wolf."
The show, adapted from the 1985 film that had originally starred Michael J. Fox, followed a young and unpopular lacrosse-player named Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) who is attacked one night by a werewolf and eventually turns into one himself. Reed played Allison Argent, the new girl in town and the eponymous teen wolf's object of affection.
