American stage and screen actor Daniel Durant was born on December 24, 1989 in Detroit, Michigan. Born deaf, he graduated from Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 2008 and continued to earn a college degree at Gallaudet University. He appeared on stage in 2012 with the Deaf West Theatre in Los Angeles.
Durant was then cast as a recurring character on television with "Switched at Birth" (Freeform, 2011-17). He earned national attention performing the lead role in the Broadway revival of "Spring Awakening" (2015). His success continued with his major supporting role in the award winning movie, "CODA" (2021). In 2022, he participated in the 31st season of "Dancing With The Stars" (ABC, 2005- ), reaching the semifinals with his dance partner Britt Stewart. On Valentine's Day 2023, Durant confirmed that he and Stewart had started a relationship and they announced their engagement later that year.
