Actor Derek Wilson grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky and completed his undergraduate study at Western Kentucky University. While in school, he was active in the University's Theatre and Dance departments. Following his graduation, Wilson relocated to New York City where he was a part of the city's regional theater scene. Wilson eventually enrolled in NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he earned a Master's degree in acting.
In 2013 he had a guest role in an episode of "The Good Wife", (CBS, 2009-2016). That same year Wilson appeared in crime drama "Person of Interest" (CBS, 2011-16), and "Rectify" (Sundance, 2013-16). Wilson started his tenure on "Rectify" as a guest, but was later written into the series as a regular. In 2016 Wilson was cast in the horror series "Preacher" (AMC 2016- ) as a series regular. The show follows the story of a preacher who recruits a vampire to help him reach God after a frightening otherworldly event takes place at his church. Wilson reteamed with "Preacher" producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg for the comedy series "Future Man" (Hulu 2017).
