Dorian Brown Pham

Originally a dancer, Dorian Brown emerged from a series of small roles in film and TV shows to take the lead in the series "Roommates" (ABC Family, 2009). However, the show was short-lived, lasting only a season. By her own account, Brown was ready to leave Los Angeles altogether after a bad pilot season when she received the script for the comedy "Wilfred" (FX, 2011-14), and subsequently landed a part as Kristen, the unpleasant, hypercritical sister of Ryan (Elijah Wood). In addition to regular appearances on the show, Brown also landed her first major film role as a little league coach in "Home Run" (2013), thus adding further credence to her status as a leading film and TV actor to watch.

Brown grew up in Boca Raton, Florida, where she took dance lessons and acted in local theater. Work in commercials followed along with a college degree in acting. Although she was cast in the pilot "Sixteen to Life" in 2002, networks passed on it, and her first TV appearance was on Fran Drescher's sitcom "Living with Fran" (The WB, 2005-06). Over the next few years, Brown met and married her husband, producer Guy Pham, but struggled professionally, appearing in more failed pilots and landing only small roles on shows like "Charmed" (The WB, 1998-2006) and "NCIS" (CBS, 2003- ).

In 2009 her luck began to change, and in addition to appearing in her first two films, "He's Such a Girl" (2009) and "Mercy" (2009), Brown landed a starring role on the sitcom "Roommates." Following the cancellation of "Roommates," Brown was back to brief appearances on big shows including "Supernatural" (The WB/The CW, 2005-). In 2011, pregnant with her first child, she read the script for "Wilfred," a remake of a hit Australian comedy about a man who sees his neighbor's dog as a human. The show was a success with critics and audiences alike in the United States. Brown says her stint on "Wilfred," the birth of her son and her next role starring in the film "Home Run" changed her in profound ways: " after having my son and playing this role, I feel like I really have my own opinion for the first time and I really credit that to the role of Kristen." (Sun-Sentinel, April 13, 2013). "Home Run" received generally positive reviews not only from critics but also from a number of professional baseball players.
