Like a couple of her co-stars on "The Walking Dead" (AMC 2010- ), Emily Kinney found a successful role that made her very well-known in the entertainment industry in a short amount of time. Kinney, who was born in Wayne, Nebraska on August 15, 1985, landed her part as Beth Greene on the hit zombie apocalypse show a mere four years after she graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2006. Before that, she had appeared in Broadway shows like "Spring Awakening" and "August: Osage Country" before landing her first TV role on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (NBC 2001-11), a show that is known for utilizing a lot of theater actors. She also appeared on the series "The Good Wife" (CBS 2009-) and "The Big C" (Showtime 2010-13) before she joined "The Walking Dead."

Besides acting, Kinney was also a singer; her song "The Parting Glass" appeared on The Walking Dead: AMC Original Soundtrack, Vol. 1 in 2013. The following year, she self-released her first album, Expired Love. Kinney left "The Walking Dead" midway through the show's fifth season, following the death of her character Beth. After appearing in guest roles on "Forever" (ABC 2014-15) and "The Flash" (CW 2014- ), Kinney joined the cast of the period medical drama "The Knick" (Cinemax 2014-15) in its second season. During this period, her offscreen romance with former "Walking Dead" co-star Norman Reedus became public.
