British actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright excelled at playing boys with an otherworldly air, including his breakout role as the supernaturally gifted Bran Stark on "Game of Thrones" (HBO 2011- ). He began his on-screen career in U.K. television commercials before making his feature debut as a mysterious child in the ghost story "The Awakening" (2011). From there, he earned international attention as Bran Stark, whose physical infirmities masked exceptional magic talents on "Game of Thrones."

The series commanded much of his professional career, though he managed to co-star in the U.K./U.S. political drama "Closed Circuit" while also maintaining an off-screen life as a teenager with scholastic and extracurricular interests. Hempstead-Wright's early talents indicated that he was the rare young actor with the range to play complex roles.

Born Isaac William Hempstead in England on April 9, 1999, Isaac Hempstead-Wright began acting in a local drama club, though initially his interest was based solely on the fact that it provided him with a means of avoiding morning football practice during the winter months. Eventually, Hempstead-Wright found performance to his liking, and began studying at the Kent Youth Theatre in Canterbury. From there, he began appearing in television commercials before making his screen debut in the supernatural thriller "The Awakening," playing a lonely young boy with a chilling secret.

That same year, Hempstead-Wright began his long run as Bran Stark on "Game of Thrones." A preternaturally mature young boy, Bran is crippled by the malevolent Jaime Lannister after witnessing him in flagrante delicto with his sister, Queen Cersei. However, the incident leads to the revelation of his extraordinary psychic and magical abilities. For his efforts, Hempstead-Wright was included in two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and a Young Actors Award for Best Performance in a TV Series - Supporting Young Actor.

While working on "Game of Thrones," he also found time to reunite with his "Awakening" co-star, actress Rebecca Hall, for the American thriller "Closed Circuit" (2013), and to lend his voice and a motion capture performance to the U.K. animated film "The Boxtrolls" (2014).
