Actor Isaiah John was plucked from relative obscurity to star as hot-headed juvenile delinquent Leon Simmons in John Singleton's drug war period drama, "Snowfall" (FX, 2017-). Born in Atlanta, GA in 1995, John made his screen debut playing a summer camp kid in young adult adaptation "Standing Up" (2013) and went on to play a partygoer in teen drama "Finding Carter" (MTV, 2014-15), Amity citizen in the second chapter of the "Divergent" series, "Insurgent" (2015), and unnamed teen in prime-time soap opera "Saints and Sinners" (Bounce TV, 2016-).
After showing up as a gang member in long-awaited sequel "Barbershop: The Next Cut" (2016), John and his real-life sister Racquel appeared as fraternal twins in TV movie "Downsized" (2017). His big break arrived later that same year when he was cast as Leon Simmons, the volatile juvenile offender and lifelong friend of leading character Franklin Saint, in the critically-acclaimed exploration of the early 1980s Los Angeles crack epidemic, "Snowfall" (FX, 2017-).
