Houston native, Janine Nabers has been part of the theater scene since high school. The limited number of Black roles in plays was partly what prompted her to make the move from acting to playwriting. Her play, "Annie Bosh is Missing" was one of the finalists in a national playwriting competition. It premiered in 2013 at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company.
Nabers gained continued traction in the television writing industry with "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" (Bravo, 2014-18), "UnREAL" (Lifetime, 2015-18) and then "Dietland" (AMC, 2018). Her work with Donald Glover on "Atlanta" (FX, 2016-22) strengthened their relationship and the two joined forces to co-create "Swarm" (Amazon Prime Video, 2023).
