Kim Carnes is an American singer and songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles. She brought her musical talents to a variety of films over the course of her Hollywood career. At the start of her Hollywood career, Carnes's music was featured in films like the action movie "Vanishing Point" (1971) with Barry Newman, the Jennifer Beals drama "Flashdance" (1983) and "Spaceballs" (1987) with Mel Brooks. Her music also appeared on the television show "My Sister Sam" (CBS, 1986-88). Carnes won a Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special Grammy Award in 1983.

In the eighties, Carnes's music continued to appear on the silver screen, including in films like "Summer Heat" (1987) with Lori Singer and "Rude Awakening" (1989) with Cheech Marin. Carnes's music was also featured in the Gary Oldman drama "The Contender" (2000), the dramatic adaptation "North Country" (2005) with Charlize Theron and "The Amateurs" (2007). Her music was also featured in the comedy "Take Me Home Tonight" (2011) with Topher Grace and the comedy "That's My Boy" (2012) with Adam Sandler. Carnes's music was most recently used in the Claire Geare thriller "No Escape" (2015).
