Born in Texas in 1990, Leigh moved to New York in her late teens to pursue her ballerina ambitions before enrolling at New York University on a fiction writing course. Leigh also took an acting class during her studies and it was here where her career began to flourish.

In 2011 she made her first on-screen appearance in an episode of "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC, 1999-) and went on to cameo in revenge thriller "Girls Against Boys" (2012), and appear in police procedural "Deception" (NBC, 2013) and legal drama "The Good Wife" (CBS, 2009-). Leigh then landed the role of ill-fated lounge singer Liza in Batman origins story "Gotham" (Fox, 2014-), drew upon her dancing background to play competitive ballerina Addison in Golden Globe-winning comedy drama "Mozart in the Jungle" (Amazon Prime, 2014-) and appeared as Connie, the babysitter who embarks on an affair with Peter Sarsgaard's married man, in miniseries "The Slap" (NBC, 2015).

Following a multi-episode stint as patient Amy O'Connor in Steven Soderbergh's period medical drama "The Knick" (Cinemax, 2014-15), Leigh made the leap to the big screen with the love interest roles of Jayne in indie "James White" (2015) and Faison in Ang Lee's Iraq War drama "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" (2016).
