Michael Mosley

After spending many years honing his craft as a supporting actor, Michael Mosley finally emerged as a leading man on the highly anticipated primetime drama series "Pan Am" (ABC, 2011-12), a sexy soap about the pilots and flight attendants working at the iconic airline in the 1960s.

Early in his career, Mosley earned his stripes by tackling a number of guest roles on popular crimes dramas such as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (NBC, 1999- ) and "Third Watch" (NBC, 1999-2005). He ventured into independent film acting with roles in the dramas "Swimmers" (2005) and "Room 314" (2006), and with small parts in big-budget romantic comedies such as "27 Dresses" (2008).

In 2009, Mosley landed one of his most high-profile roles as a laconic medical student on the comedy series "Scrubs" (NBC, 2001-08; ABC, 2009-2010). His appearance on "Scrubs" paved the way for a major part on "Pan Am," the show that propelled Mosley's status in Hollywood and gave him his first taste of mainstream success.

Michael Mosley was born on Sept. 16, 1978 in Iowa City, IA. He attended Cedar Falls High School, where he also took acting classes. Before he launched his career, Mosley played guitar for a local band, Hostage Boy, which recorded one demo. Having found minimal success as a musician, Mosley focused on acting instead, attending The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City from 1998 to 2001 to hone his craft.

He was also a member of the "47 Seconds" Drama Troupe, which advocated the prevention of child abuse and domestic violence. Mosley used television as a springboard, and landed small parts on crime drama series such as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Third Watch." Mosley then made the transition to feature films, beginning with a lead role in the horror flick "The Bog Creatures" (2003), as one of the college-aged archeology students hunted down by the mummified zombies that they unwittingly unearthed.

He also appeared in a number of independent dramas like director Doug Sadler's "Swimmers" and Michael Knowles' "Room 314," which gave audiences an intimate peek into five couples' lives as they navigate critical moments in their relationships in an anonymous hotel room at different times.

Mosley had a recurring role as an FBI agent on the short-lived drama "Kidnapped" (NBC, 2006-07) and began nabbing bit parts in more mainstream projects, such as the romantic comedies "27 Dresses," "The Accidental Husband" (2008) and "The Proposal" (2009); in the latter, he played Ryan Reynold's best friend. In 2009, he joined the cast of the hit comedy "Scrubs," as a sarcastic medical student who develops an awkward relationship with Eliza Coupe.

Mosley continued to make headway on television with guest starring roles on a number of shows such as "Law & Order: LA" (NBC, 2010-11) and "The Closer" (TNT, 2005-12). In 2011, Mosley starred in the ABC period drama "Pan Am," a series set in the 1960s that followed a group of flight attendants as they jet set around the world. On the stylish series, he played a hilarious co-pilot opposite Christina Ricci, Kelli Garner and Margot Robbie as the Pan Am stewardesses.
