While he had the acumen to tackle all types of roles, Michael Trevino excelled at playing dramatic characters. The California native made the leap into acting by paying his dues through making numerous appearances on primetime hit shows such as "Charmed" (The WB,1998-2006), "CSI: Miami" (CBS, 2002-12) and "Bones" (Fox, 2005- ).
Hollywood casting agents began taking notice of the talented actor, whereupon he landed recurring roles on the short-lived family drama "Cane" (ABC Television, 2007) and the popular reboot of "90210" (Fox, 2008-13), on which he played the "boy toy" of a privileged and spoiled high school teenager. But it took his role as a shape shifter on the supernatural drama series "The Vampire Diaries" (The CW, 2009-17) to make Trevino a household name and established him as one of his generation's most promising television stars.
Michael Anthony Trevino was born on Jan. 25, 1985 in Montebello, CA, but was raised a bit north in Valencia. Making his acting debut on television, he landed guest parts on primetime dramas such as the short-lived series "Summerland" (The WB, 2004-05) and the Geena Davis vehicle "Commander in Chief" (ABC, 2005-06), as well as a small role on "Charmed," where he played one of several innocent teenagers kidnapped for possessing a name similar to "Alice" in the episode "Malice in Wonderland."
Trevino continued making inroads on television with many guest-starring roles on hit crime dramas like "Cold Case" (CBS, 2003-2010), "CSI: Miami" and "Bones." In 2007, Trevino co-starred on the series "Cane," about a wealthy and powerful Cuban-American family who operates a successful sugar and rum business in South Florida. On the short-lived drama, he played the teenage son of Jimmy Smits, the adopted son and chosen heir to the family's business.
Trevino continued establishing his presence on television with recurring roles on the drama "The Riches" (FX Network, 2007-08) and on "90210," a spin-off of the seminal '90s teen drama "Beverly Hills, 90210" (Fox, 1990-2000). On the latter, he played a high school student who catches the eye of Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord), a privileged and popular student at fictional West Beverly Hills High.
Trevino continued to snag guest roles on a number of primetime dramas before scoring a series regular role on "The Vampire Diaries." The supernatural drama - based on the young adult book series by L. J. Smith - centered on a love triangle involving a young woman, Elena (Nina Dobrev), and a pair of vampire brothers (Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder). Trevino played Tyler Lockwood, a high school football star-turned-werewolf who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola), a human who had transformed into a vampire.
