Former child and teen actor, son of film star James Mason and actress-author Pamela Kellino Mason who, after establishing ties to the film and music industries, worked in the U.S. State Department and served as special assistant to President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1983.
Mason has worked in independent film production in several capacities, achieving considerable success as co-executive producer of Steven Soderbergh's provocative look at the sexual voyeurism afforded by popular technology, "sex, lies, and videotape" (1989). In 1991 Mason's wide range of connections led to his appointment as a talent agent at the powerful William Morris Agency. Married to pop singer Belinda Carlisle.
