Actor and comedian Rob Kerkovich worked steadily in television before earning his showcase role as an offbeat scientist on "NCIS: New Orleans" (CBS, 2014- ). Born in Massachusetts, Kerkovich attended the University of Southern California Los Angeles as a theater major, earning his degree in 2001 while also performing with the troupe Commedus Interruptus. After graduation, he co-founded his own comedy troupe, Summer of Tears, in 2004; the group's video shorts and sketches helped to earn the jury prize for best sketch comedy at the 2007 U.S. Comedy Art Fest.

The following year, Kerkovich began appearing in film and television projects, beginning in 2008 with a minor turn in "Cloverfield." Guest shots on television series soon followed ranging from "CSI: Miami" (CBS, 2002-2012) to "Modern Family" (ABC, 2009- ), as well as a season-long stint as writer for the short-lived but well-regarded ABC comedy "Happy Endings" (2011-13). In 2014, he was cast in a recurring role on the ABC Family series "Chasing Life" (2014-15), but left to become a series regular on the popular spinoff "NCIS: New Orleans." Kerkovich played Sebastian Lund, a forensic scientist with the Jefferson Parish Coroner's Office, whose role was to offer comic counterpoint to the gravity of CCH Pounder's coroner, Dr. Loretta Wade.
