Actor Roberta Colindrez, best known for her work on the hit Broadway musical "Fun Home" (2013-), was born in Monterey, Mexico. Colindrez got her start in 2008, when she appeared in an off-Broadway production of "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind" (2008), as well as the short film "One Dollar Poem" (2008). In 2011, she wrote and starred in the short film "Otis Under Sky" (2011).

2013 proved to be a seminal year for Colindrez: in addition to starring in another short film, "Beautiful Dreamer" (2013), and shooting a cameo in the Best Picture winner "Birdman" (2014), she began performing the role of Joan in "Fun Home" (2013-) the musical based on Alison Bechdel's graphic novel memoir, during its limited off-Broadway run. When the show finally opened on Broadway in 2015, it was a smash with both critics and audiences, eventually winning 5 Tonys, including Best Musical of the Year.
