Former news correspondent and singer Robin Meade was born in New London, Ohio. She was also known for being Miss Ohio, and a semi-finalist in the Miss America pageant in 1993, before becoming a reporter for an independent television station. Meade would later become an anchor and was under her tenure in an NBC affiliate station that she covered the 1996 Olympics, and the Centennial Olympic Park bombing.

She went on to cover the US military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the 9/11 attacks in New York while she was based in CNN's headquarters in Atlanta. Meade went on to become the moderator on "Ask Oprah's All Stars" (Oprah Winfrey Network, 2011) and, later that same year, she released a country music album.
