International pop star Robyn was a Swedish recording artist and multiple Grammy nominee who was best known for her breakthrough worldwide dance-pop hits "Do You Know (What It Takes)" and "Dancing on My Own." Born Robin Miriam Carlsson on June 12, 1979 in Stockholm, she was the daughter of Swedish actors Wilhelm Carlsson and Maria Ericson, both of whom fostered the young Robyn's natural talent for singing. As fate would have it, Swedish pop star Meja visited Robyn's school for a musical workshop where Robyn impressed the singer so much that Meja contacted her management to arrange a meeting with Robyn and her parents.

At the age of sixteen, Robyn began her pop music career in 1994 with the release of her debut single "You've Got That Something," followed by "Do You Really Want Me (Show Respect)" later that year. By 1996, she had enough tracks to compile her first album Robyn Is Here, which eventually became certified double platinum in Sweden and platinum in the United States. Robyn became increasingly popular in Europe, especially after the release of her second album My Truth (1998) and the hit songs "Keep This Fire Burning" and the title track from the album Don't Stop the Music.

Robyn's 2005 self-titled album garnered plenty of critical praise upon its release and became her first number one album in the Swedish charts. Robyn was nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album in the 2009 Grammy Awards. Her next studio effort was an ambitious effort called Body Talk, which was released in three mini-albums in 2010. Body Talk Pt. 1's unleashed the international hit single "Dancing on My Own," which gave Robyn another Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording, while Body Talk Pt. 3 offered two more nominations for Best Dance/Electronica Album and another Best Dance Recording.

In 2013, Robyn was featured alongside The Lonely Island, Paul Rudd, and Sean Combs in the EDM parody "Go Kindergarden" from The Lonely Island's The Wack Album. This was not Robyn's first brush with the cast of "Saturday Night Live" (NBC 1975- ), however. A 2011 viral video featured SNL cast member Taran Killam recreating the video for Robyn's then-current single "Call Your Girlfriend" in one of the show's offices, filmed during an all-night writing session during the week that Robyn was the show's musical guest.

After an extended break, Robyn finally returned with a new album, Honey, in October 2018, preceded by the singles "Missing U" and "Honey."
