At age seven, Sophie Nélisse began her showbiz work in commercials. Although she made guest appearances as a friend of the family in the drama "Les Parent" (Radio-Canada, 2008), Nélisse dazzled international audiences at age 10 when she filmed the role of Alice L'Écuyer, a member of an elementary school class reeling from the emotional damage inflicted when their beloved teacher kills herself, leaving replacement educator "Monsieur Lazhar" (2011) to step in and attempt to help them heal.
