Stephanie Sigman

Born in Obregon, Mexico, Stephanie Sigman flew into the international consciousness playing the lead role in her first major film "Miss Bala" (2011). Initially a model, Sigman was familiar with the world of Mexican beauty pageants, but landing the role was a fluke, as she was auditioning for a commercial that writer and director Gerardo Narango was going to direct. He knew she looked right for the role, and when he realized that she was an able actress, she got the part. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 and was critically lauded. "Miss Bala" was the Mexican entry for Best Foreign Language Film in the Academy Awards, but the film failed to garner a nomination.

Sigman's next widely distributed film truly embraced the international, and couldn't be much farther removed from "Miss Bala." Filmed in Norway by a Norwegian director with a cast made up of a mishmash of European and American actors, "Pioneer" (2013) is a visual spectacle that follows undersea explorers trying to reach oil at the bottom of the Norwegian Sea. The film gained rave reviews and an international release. Sigman again worked with "Miss Bala" director Narango when she took a recurring role as a cartel girlfriend in "The Bridge" (FX, 2013-14), and played another pawn in the Mexican drug wars in the HBO series "Narcos" (Netflix, 2015- ). In the most high-profile job of her early career, Sigman was announced as a Bond girl opposite Daniel Craig in "Spectre" (2015).
