Born on March 9, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois, Steve Wilkos is an American television personality and former law enforcement officer. In October 1982, Wilkos joined the United States Marine Corps and was discharged in March 1989. Wilkos joined the Chicago Police Department in 1990. In May 1994, Wilkos was hired to be a security guard for the "Jerry Springer" show. He retired from the force in 2004 and worked exclusively for the show beginning in 2001.

In 2005, Wilkos appeared as a guest on "Check, Please!" (PBS). In 2006, Wilkos filled in for Springer who was participating in "Dancing with the Stars." Wilkos has made cameo appearances on the MLB Network. He's also appeared on TV series "Between Brothers," "The Wayans Bros." and in the movie "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me." In January 2007, NBC Universal Television announced that Steve Wilkos would host a talk show of his own. "The Steve Wilkos Show" premiered on September 10, 2007.
