William Marshall began his acting career with roles in such films as the John Garfield adventure "Flowing Gold" (1940), "Knute Rockne - All American" (1940) and the action picture "The Santa Fe Trail" (1940) with Errol Flynn. He kept working in film throughout the forties and the sixties, starring in "Flying With Music" (1942), the musical "Belle of the Yukon" (1944) with Randolph Scott and the adaptation "State Fair" (1945) with Jeanne Crain.

He also appeared in "Murder in the Music Hall" (1946) and "Calendar Girl" (1947). Marshall last directed "The Phantom Planet" (1961) with Dean Fredericks. Marshall passed away in June 1994 at the age of 77.
