Born in Tobago in the southern Caribbean, actor Winston Duke immigrated to the United States when he was nine years old. He began acting in productions at the Portland Stage Company and at his alma mater, Yale University. Duke's first appearance on the small screen came in 2014 when he was cast on an episode of "Law & Order: SVU" (NBC, 1999-). He followed up this effort with a seven-episode arc as Dominic on "Person of Interest" (CBS, 2011-16). In 2015 Duke appeared in three episodes of "The Messenger" (CW, 2015).

Duke appeared in another police procedural, "Major Crimes" (TNT, 2012- ), that same year. In 2016 Duke appeared in three episodes of "Modern Family" (ABC, 2009-) as Dwight, a gifted high school football player who moved in temporarily with Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson). In 2018, Duke co-starred as the villain M'Baku in the Marvel superhero blockbuster "Black Panther" (2018), a role he reprised in "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018).
