American actress Wrenn Schmidt is best known for her recurring TV roles on "The Americans" (FX, 2013- ), "Boardwalk Empire" (HBO, 2010-14), and "Person of Interest" (CBS, 2011-16).

Born and raised in Lexington, South Carolina, Schmidt's desire to act was evident at a very young age. She would perform for friends and family as a young girl, and by the time high school rolled around, decided to enroll in a performing arts school in nearby Greenville. Schmidt studied acting at the school and appeared in various plays during her tenure there.

After high school she was accepted into the prestigious drama program at Southern Methodist University in Texas, where she would go on to graduate summa cum laude in 2005. After years of intense study inside the classroom, Schmidt decided to take a crack at becoming a theater actress. She promptly moved to New York City in the mid-2000s, and before long was appearing in various off-Broadway plays.

With her stage acting career on the rise, Schmidt also began auditioning for film and TV roles. By the early 2010s she was appearing in films like "Client 9: The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer" (2010), "Javelina" (2011), and "Our Idiot Brother" (2011).

Then in 2012 she nabbed her first recurring TV role on HBO's "Boardwalk Empire." Schmidt played Julia Sagorsky on 10 episodes of the Emmy-nominated series. After her role on "Boardwalk Empire" ended in 2013, Schmidt continued nabbing recurring parts on "The Americans," "Tyrant" (FX, 2014-16), and the CBS crime procedural "Person of Interest," in which she played a doctor.

In 2017 Schmidt landed her first major film role in the indie romantic comedy "The Good Catholic" (2017), which also starred Danny Glover and John C. McGinley. In 2018 Schmidt returned to TV acting with a role in the historical mini-series "The Looming Tower" (Hulu, 2018). The series, which premiered on Hulu in February of 2018 and was based on the Pulitzer Prize winning book by Lawrence Wright, chronicled the events leading up the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.
