Another Golden Bachelor Nation couple has called it quits. On November 6, The Golden Bachelorette Season 1 couple Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple announced that they have decided to end their engagement after two years together.

Vassos released a statement first, and Chapple soon followed with a nearly identical message. “Two years ago, Chock and I took a leap of faith and got engaged during our season of The Golden Bachelorette, hoping we had found our forever,” Vassos began.

“We spent the last two years living what we hoped would be the beginning of our love story, sharing our families, amazing adventures, laughter, and supporting each other through challenging times. Sadly, our journey hasn’t turned out the way we had hoped and we have decided to end our engagement. We truly want each other to be happy, and I’m grateful for the chapter we shared.”

Vassos and Chapple met during the first season of The Golden Bachelorette. Vassos was named the lead of the The Golden Bachelor spinoff after having to leave Gerry Turner‘s season early due to a family emergency.

The couple got engaged in the season finale, and they were planning on getting a place together in New York City, while also keeping their primary residences in Kansas (Chapple) and Maryland (Vassos). Over the last year, Vassos and Chapple have had to address split rumors after not being seen together for periods of time.

Back in August, Vassos admitted that she and Chapple weren’t spending as much time together. After seeing each other every two weeks at the start of their relationship post-Golden Bachelorette, she said they were going three weeks to a month without seeing each other.

“We’re evolving,” she said on the In My Hometown podcast. “We haven’t figured out what our future looks like. We certainly don’t have a five-year plan. I’m not even sure we have a one-year plan. We’re kind of coasting along, living day-to-day, to be honest.”

Their breakup comes on the heels of The Golden Bachelor Season 2 couple Mel Owens and Peg Munson splitting up. Munson announced their breakup in an Instagram video she shared on October 21.
